Ideal Candidates

The ideal LEAP candidate is a student who has encountered challenges, but has a strong desire to be successful in an out of school and will benefit from an individualized and supported approach to learning. LEAP is offered as part of a continuum of education services provided by school districts. Learners who will be considered for LEAP:

  • Have completed at least 1 year of high school
  • Are over-aged and under-credited, relative to graduation requirements
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the learning model and a desire to fully participate in the program
  • Will benefit from personalized, student-centered learning that includes a significant focus on career readiness
  • Require a referral from their high school/district

Note: LEAP is open to all high school students in eastern Connecticut

Program Goals
  •  Learners will achieve academic success and earn the credits required for their diplomas
  • Learners will prepare for post-secondary education and careers through the development of career-readiness skills in the classroom and in their communities
  • Learners will demonstrate character through honesty and integrity
Enrollment Process
  • Applications for the 2019-2020 school year are available through high school guidance offices
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, year-round
  • Enrollment will remain open until all spaces are filled
  • As applications are received, interviews will be scheduled
  • Students’ first semester began on August 28, 2019
